This collection of ppt screens were used at a first face to face tutorial early in the presentation. Most of the activities were designed by the course team. I added the map of Spain with all its provinces because it is more visual and opens up the conversation. The song (Badalona) was used to practise linking words together, to appreciate the rhythm of the language and to impart information on the culture of the area.

Conditionnel

Practise making conditional sentences using this pair work activity. This can be given as handouts, with students working in pairs. One person asks the question, either reading it, making the question from the key word prompt or using the picture as a prompt. The second person responds by reformulating the question into the first person and adding the second part of the sentence with the conditional verb. It can be used as a group activity, with the tutor taking a number of suggestions from different students.

Free time Activities - Pasatiempos

This lesson includes a PPP to work on free time activities, present tense and frequency adverbs. The second activity is a survey to reinforce these contents. Students fill in with their own answers and then move around the class interviewing peers. Students should interview same person until they hear the bell go. The idea is for them to interview as many students as possible and find one person with the most similar activities. This task was designed to be used for f2f tutorials but can be also adapted for Elluminate tutorials.

A selection of subjunctive exercises. The ‘Gebrauchsanweisung’ is a handy subjunctive ‘users guide’ provides usage and examples in a nutshell. This can be given to students as a quick reference. Sheet 1 illustrates usages through translation. Examples are close to those given in the users guide. Sheet 2 comprises exercises on Konjunktive II +würde, unrealisable conditions and polite requests. Sheet 3 provides an opportunity to practice indirect speech and the use of KI+KII in this context and another exercise on unrealisable conditions. This game has to be controlled by the tutor who will throw the dice and tell the students the number they get, then give a student a counter and pullout a hidden word from each blue square. Then the student has to make a correct phrase use the three contents as well as a suitable ending to the phrase. If they fall in a ladder they go up, if they fall in a snake´s mouth they go down. If they fall on a white square miss a turn and if they fall on a red square they must make a phrase in the present subjunctive using only a verb and a noun then.
